thu pm. 06.10.10

we had a sunny start to our thursday, but are experiencing a windy and thundershowery finish. the high temp at the weathergeek office was 26.6c/80f. a look into the future shows a rather stagnant weather pattern right into early next week... we'll see increasingly warmer temperatures, but the pattern in the upper atmosphere will remain a bit disturbed. that means surface heat will rise into cooler and slightly turbulent air aloft, bringing a daily chance of a few showers and thunderstorms. for the most part, these thunderstorms will be rather brief, but it's a good idea to be prepared if your plans are taking you out of town and into the hills during the afternoon and evening hours.

on another note... the advance of the monsoon seems to be pretty close to the normal schedule across southern and eastern india. monsoon conditions will continue to advance toward the north and west in the next 2 weeks. currently, it appears that our average monsoon onset date of 29 june here in mcleod ganj is fairly on target...
