tuesday morning>

a pocket of cold air in the mid- and upper levels of the atmosphere is situated over northern pakistan this morning. as this feature slides south and east during the next 2-3 days, and surface temperatures slowly warm up, instability will increase... which means we have a good chance of occasional showers and thunderstorms right through thursday. the satellite pic this morning shows numerous patches of cloudiness, which will keep the sunshine rather limited today. it looks like things change significantly by the weekend, however... with high pressure in the upper atmosphere building in, and heat building also at the surface. that should shut off the thunderstorms for at least a couple of days, and bring in one more period of very warm temperatures before the monsoon's arrival...
