thursday evening>

wicked cloud-to-ground lightning late this afternoon and early this evening, with some heavy showers around the area. but also... sunshine breaking through in the midst of it all and creating a beautiful rainbow in the eastern sky. i had 0.50" (1.3cm) of new rainfall as of 455pm... but there has been more since then, and will update with totals later this evening. the high temp in upper mcleod ganj today was 22C/72F.

**UPDATE @ 745PM... TODAY'S RAINFALL**
-near main temple... 0.90" (2.3cm)
-upper mcleod ganj... 0.80" (2cm)

satellite pics this evening are showing lots of showers and thunderstorms from east central pakistan through punjab and himachal pradesh, so we could continue to see some heavy downpours, especially before midnight. the overall weather pattern is not looking at all like the tail end of the monsoon season. tropical moisture remains entrenched across the indian sub-continent, and really shows no signs of letting go. as i've been mentioning, humidity levels are generally down by 10-15%, and that does make a difference... giving us more sunshine here and there, and less hours of thick fog. BUT... the rainfall is obviously not fizzling out just yet, and there are signs that we could easily get another 15" (38cm) of rain before all is said and done.
