atmospheric conflict... (am.25.feb.11)>

skies are partly cloudy early this morning, with a chilly breeze, and 41.5F (5.3C).  we've had no measurable rain since the pre-dawn hours of thursday morning.

there is no significant change to our recent weather pattern...  there is an unusually strong jetstream bringing what seems to be a never-ending series of upper-level disturbances from iran across afghanistan and pakistan into northern india.  these individual disturbances are fairly weak, but each of them has enough energy to stir up some thick overcast, and perhaps a few showers and thundershowers (with snow above 2300m/7500ft).  so far, the computer models advertising significant rainfall for us have been dead wrong... but there is still data showing a period or two of moderate rainfall and thunderstorms between now and saturday evening... so be advised that things could turn wet and nasty quite suddenly.

you might be surprised (or not!) to know that NORMAL high temperatures for late february are near 18C/65F... with NORMAL low temps around 11C/52F... so it is indeed way colder than it should be.  unfortunately, our much-longed-for spring warm-up is still not going to arrive in the near future...
