blasting winds... (pm.6.feb.11)>

late this evening the winds are very strong and gusty, but there have still been only a few light and scattered rain showers around mcleod ganj.  there are reports of very heavy snowfall in the mountains above 2500m (8200ft) all across himachal pradesh and jammu & kashmir, but so far... precipitation has been light at the lower elevations.

the center of this storm system will be moving from pakistan through northern india during the next 24 to 36 hours... bringing with it more strong winds, falling temperatures and a mixture of rain, sleet and snow.  computer models are still forecasting heavy rain and snow for our area between now and tuesday morning... but i think we are all waiting to see the reality of that!

by tuesday afternoon, this system should be moving to our east, and that means a trend toward quieter and midler weather for the middle and latter parts of the week...
