storm winding down... (pm.7.feb.11)>

what a climax to our past 3-4 days of dealing with this storm system.!  i have to say that i've never seen such dark skies during the afternoon here in mcleod ganj, or anywhere else for that matter.  the thunderstorm complex that rolled through here between 2 and 5 pm was intense, indeed.  late this evening it is 43F (6C), and my rain gauge shows 1.47" (3.7cm), most of which fell this afternoon.  one of our weathergeek observers below OM Hotel reported more than 2" (5cm) of rain.  snowfall has been very heavy up the mountain... well over 1 meter (3ft+) in many areas from the dhaladaurs into lahaul and spiti, kashmir and ladakh.

the latest satellite pic clearly shows the backside of this storm system moving over us right at this moment.  i think there could still be some random light rain and/or snow showers overnight into early tomorrow morning, but for the most part, this event is over.  the winds have died down, and skies will be clearing.  temperatures will remain on the cool side tomorrow, but then we should gradual move back into a more comfortable zone by the end of the week.  BUT... there will be another round of precipitation coming as well...
