listening for thunder... (pm.18.mar.11)>

despite a cloudy start, and a hazy, cloudy finish... today actually turned out to be really nice!  i recorded a high temp of 74.1F (23.4C) up here below the mountaineering center, thanks to the few hours of sunshine during the middle of the day.

if you're paying close attention, you may have noticed the return of billowing cumulus clouds over the mountains during the afternoon hours... which is evidence of the colder air now arriving in the upper atmosphere.  a fairly potent disturbance will be moving through the area during the next 24-36 hours, which will stir up some thick cloudiness at times, along with at least a moderate chance of some showers and thunderstorms.  it looks like the best chances of rain will occur between now and early sunday morning...i'm not anticipating a persistent, long-term rain, but don't be surprised by raindrops and the sound of thunder this weekend.  as i've been mentioning all week... conditions up in the mountains could be quite wet and cold at times... so be prepared.

things should rapidly improve early next week... with a mix of clouds and sun, along with near normal late march temperatures...

FRIDAY NIGHT: partly to mostly cloudy skies, with a chance of some showers (with thunder) developing.
low: 17C (62F)

SATURDAY: clouds, with a few peeks of sun.  not as warm, with a good chance of some scattered showers and thunderstorms.
high: 21C (69F)

SUNDAY: a mix of clouds and sun... still a risk of a shower or thundershower in the area.
high: 19C (67F)

MONDAY: partly cloudy and comfortable.
high: 21C (69F)

TUESDAY: partly cloudy skies... nice temps.
high: 21C (69F)

WEDNESDAY: sunny to partly cloudy and pleasant.
high: 21C (70F)
