slow changes... (pm.16.mar.11)>

there are a few cirrus clouds moving across the area this evening... otherwise it is mostly clear.  my thermometer here at the top of mcleod ganj made it up only to 69.8F (21C) today... a far cry from yesterday's 77.5F (25.3C).  high clouds were more prevalent than expected, and that kept temperatures down (although still very pleasant) for much of the day.

already, there are signs that the big high pressure ridge responsible for our sunny and warm weather the past several days is starting to break down.  colder air in the upper atmosphere will be gradually filtering in starting tomorrow, and that will lead to some unstable conditions as we head into the weekend.  we won't be seeing a return to winter-ish cold weather... but thicker clouds, an increasing chance of showers and thunderstorms, along with a turn to slightly cooler temps are in the forecast.

during the last few days, lots of people have been venturing into the mountains... just keep in mind that much colder temperatures and wet weather are a good bet up there, starting on friday, and continuing into sunday.  if you plan to do some trekking, just be aware of the potential for rapidly changing conditions...

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: partly cloudy skies.  mild.
low: 17C (63F)

THURSDAY: a mix of sun and high clouds.  still warm.
high: 23C (74F)

FRIDAY: partly to mostly cloudy.  chance of a late-day thunderstorm.
high: 23C (74F)

SATURDAY: clouds, along with a few peeks of sun.  better chance of some scattered showers and thunderstorms in the area.
high: 22C (72F)

SUNDAY: more clouds than sun.  still a good chance of a thunderstorm or two.
high: 21C (70F)

MONDAY: partly cloudy skies... just a slight chance of a PM thundershower.
high: 20C (68F)
