temps on the rise... (am.11.mar.11)>

we have another totally clear morning in mcleod ganj...with a pre-sunrise temp of 49.5F (9.7C).  satellite photos show absolutely cloudless skies from pakistan through northwest india, into western tibet.

it's time for major changes in our atmospheric alignment once again... the pool of cold air aloft has now moved to the east, and is going to be replaced by a gradually strengthening area of high pressure during the next several days.  that means temperatures will be on the rise... not only at the surface, but throughout all levels of the atmosphere... which should kill the instability required to stir up showers and thunderstorms.  the only "fly in the ointment" i can see at this point would be too much warming aloft, which could create an inversion (relatively cooler air trapped below warm air)... that's the recipe for fog.  we'll just have to watch that potential spoiler on a day-by-day basis.

otherwise... we're in line for an aggressive warming trend to kick in this weekend, accompanied by mostly sunny skies.  there are indications that temps could top 70F (21C) by the middle of next week!
