turning the corner... (pm.20.apr.11)>

we have partly cloudy skies this evening, after a much-improved day featuring warmer temperatures and lots of sunshine.  the clouds have been billowing up over the mountains since early this afternoon, but so far, the widely scattered shower and thundershower action has stayed out of the dharamsala area.  i recorded a very comfortable high temp of 72.1F (22.3C) during the mid-afternoon.

we have dodged the bullet this afternoon, as satellite pics (and a look from my rooftop) indicate a few clusters of thundershowers along the front ranges of the himalayas, from kashmir into himachal.  i think there is still a slight (20%) chance that we could get side-swiped by one of these before they totally die out after dark.  the remnants of our recent big storm system is responsible for the lingering instability... but that will be gradually diminishing altogether during the next day or two.

the next weather feature that we have to look forward to is a strengthening widespread area of high pressure in the middle and upper levels of the atmosphere.  temperatures will be warming steadily for the next several days (or more)... and there will be nothing more than an isolated shower or two mainly over the mountains to interrupt the sunshine.  it looks like we will finally get april-like weather, just as the month is winding down...
