universally popular... (pm.24.apr.11)>

it is hard to please everyone all of the time, but i think today's weather might rate very very high on the people-pleasing scale.  other than just a few scrappy cumulus clouds over the mountains during the afternoon, we had sunny skies... and i recorded a high temp of 78.8F (26C)... the warmest of 2011 thus far.  temps down in dharamsala are pushing 30C (86F), and our warming trend is not over just yet.

the upper-air pattern continues to look more and more like a typical late spring, pre-monsoon scenario... which is a huge transformation from what we were stuck in just one week ago.  there appears to be no end to the gradual warming in all levels of the atmosphere... so that means that our temperatures will continue their steady upward climb during the next several days.

computer models continue to hint at just a bit of upper-level instability developing later this week, but at this point, all that means is that we need to be aware of the potential for a couple of random afternoon and early evening thundershowers over the mountains by about wednesday or so.  i would put the probabilities at only 20-30%.  so... enjoy this long-awaited late spring/early summer weather pattern while it lasts...
