begging for rain... (pm.19.may.11)>

clouds from mountain thundershowers are obscuring the sky before sunset this evening.  today was the second warmest day of the year, with a high temp of 86.2F (30.1C) recorded at the top of mcleod ganj just below the mountaineering center.  satellite photos show scattered thundershowers from southwest kashmir through himachal and uttar anchal... but we've managed to avoid them so far.

this evening we are on the brink of a turn to some slightly cooler weather for a few days.  temperatures in the upper atmosphere continue to cool down... little by little... as our recent giant dome of high pressure collapses.  this will keep a chance of a few showers and thunderstorms in the forecast right through sunday.  a fairly potent upper-level disturbance will swing through here late friday through sunday, so i'm thinking that will be the best "window of opportunity" for some significant rainfall.  unfortunately, that coincides with the third and final IPL cricket match (saturday afternoon/evening)... it could be a bit dicey.

i am hearing about water problems all over the place recently... which is kind of surprising, considering the massive snow pack we've had to work with from winter/spring snows.  anyway... a half-inch or so of rain would be very welcome.  then, by monday and tuesday, rain chances will diminish again, as temps rebound.

MONDAY: sunny to partly cloudy and warming up again.
high: 28C (82F)

TUESDAY: mostly sunny and warm.
high: 28C (83F)
