kinda rowdy... (pm.25.may.11)>

a cloudy evening in progress, with more thunderstorms lurking.  what a day... it was sunny and warm until early afternoon, when clouds thickened, thunder rumbled, and some wicked cloud-to-ground lightning zapped the area for about a half hour.  we did get a brief shower, but it only amounted to 0.08" (2mm) at my place.  the high temp was 84.0F (28.9C), which occurred during the noon hour.  we actually dropped to 68.2F (20.1F) around 2:45pm during the shower, but the temp quickly rebounded.

the first in a series of upper-level disturbances is affecting us now, and will keep us under the gun for potential thundershowers overnight.  there is actually another large area of showers and storms to our northwest which could drift in soon, if it holds together.  then... disturbances number 2 and number 3 will move through between tomorrow and saturday, bringing us yet more opportunities for thunder and some rainfall.  as i've been mentioning, we have a serious lack of moisture available... so rainfall amounts shouldn't be very heavy, despite the noisy thunder and gusty winds from time to time.

in between showers and storms, there will still be a good bit of sunshine, along with fairly typical late may temperatures... so be prepared for storminess, but expect a few hours of nice weather as well.  by sunday, things will calm down again, and temperatures will creep upward.
