may bows out... (am.31.may.11)>

a very nice morning is dawning... we have clear to partly cloudy skies.  the early morning low temp has been 68.7F (20.4C).

satellite photos show dead calm weather from afghanistan into northwest india, so it looks like at least the first part of our tuesday will be sunny and quiet.  but with the morning sun comes rapid warming, leading to the potential for a few thundershowers to develop over the mountains during the afternoon hours.  temps will climb for the fourth day in a row... finally approaching "normal" for the end of may, and should stay in that range for the first day of june as well.

as the new month arrives, rain and thunderstorm chances will be on the increase once again.  a rather strong upper-level disturbance will be trekking from northern pakistan into northern india between late tomorrow and early friday, and it looks like this system will be able to tap into some good moisture.  at this point, i think we could see at least a couple of waves of strong thunderstorms and moderate to heavy rainfall during the late wednesday afternoon through early friday morning timeframe.  our rainfall is running well below normal since the last week of april, so it would be nice to catch up a bit...
