oh, the ambiguity... (pm.20.jun.11)>

a stunningly gorgeous evening in progress, with partly cloudy skies, pleasant temps and tolerable humidity.  we had another rather ferocious downpour late this morning, which delivered 0.62" (1.6cm) of rain, accompanied by fog and some gusty winds... but with this northwesterly flow aloft, some clear and drier air from central asia has moved in once again.  today's high reached 73.9F (23.3C).

late june is normally erratic and volatile, but i'm not sure i remember such wild swings between monsoon-like downpours with fog... and periods of sunshine with pleasant, fresh air.  when we are truly into monsoon season, the sunshine and lower humidity is much harder to come by, and we can go for days and days without being able to get a view down into the valley or up to the dhauladar range. ** remember to check the MONSOON WATCH tab above for the latest progress of the leading edge of real monsoon conditions**.

this flip-flopping, alternating, wildly-swinging pattern will keep on for another couple of days.  but as the upper-air flow shifts during the latter half of this week, we may be seeing the development of more prolonged periods of clouds, fog and rain... along with a consistently nearly-saturated airmass (read: humidity 80-90%+).  stay tuned!!
