wild swings... (pm.7.sep.11)>

skies are partly cloudy this evening, with occasional patches of fog drifting through.  we had about two hours of rain during the late morning into the early afternoon which amounted to 0.49" (1.2cm), otherwise, we've seen the clouds, fog and sunshine doing battle all day long.  our high temp, which occurred just before the rain moved in, was 73.8F (23.2C).

average daily rainfall rates have decreased significantly since our extremely wet august, but as we look ahead to the next few days, and even the next week to 10 days, there is still no indication that monsoon conditions will end for good.  in fact, heavy rainfall remains a good bet between now and the weekend, with a couple of the computer models still advertising more than 10cm (4") in the next couple of days, along with humidity remaining between 90-100% for the most part.  some downpours could include thunder and lightning as well.

despite the pleasant interludes, it's not a great idea to leave home without the umbrella just yet...
