this and that... (am.14.oct.11)>

the sky is clear at sunrise this morning, with a humidity reading of 70%.  our overnight/early morning temps are cooler than they've been for several days.  i recorded a low of 59.0F (15.0C).

satellite pics this morning show that the veil of mid- and high clouds that were over himachal pradesh for most of yesterday have shifted east into uttarakhand.  the center of the upper-level disturbance we've been watching recently is over northern pakistan, and will continue to slide southeastward today and saturday.  as this system passes by, it has the potential to destabilize the atmosphere enough to stir up a round or two of showers and thunderstorms... especially from this afternoon into tonight.  moisture is very limited, so rain chances aren't great. just be aware of the possibility, especially if you're headed into the mountains.

as this disturbance moves by, it will drag a batch of dry air from central asia into northern india, which will drop our humidity to the lowest levels we've seen during these post-monsoon weeks.  generally sunny and dry weather should prevail into next week...
