happiness... (pm.16.mar.12)>

It was a bit touch-and-go with the high clouds this morning, but it has turned out to be a beautiful day, with mostly clear skies before sunset this evening.  My high temperature of 67.5F (19.7C) on Tushita Road just below the mountaineering center is the warmest of the season.  Even in the shade it was comfortable today... finally feeling like genuine springtime.

And this is only the beginning.  The bulk of our warming trend is yet to come, as a ridge of high pressure continues to build from the surface into the upper-atmosphere across northern India.  Temperatures will continue rising through Sunday and possibly Monday... and it looks like a sure thing now that we'll top the magical 21C (70F) point for the first time this season.  If you plan to head further south... expect temps in Kangra and Amritsar to be close to 32C (90F) on Sunday and Monday... with 35C (95F)+ in Chandigarh and Delhi by Monday-Wednesday.

Thus far, we haven't had any strange mountain-induced shower/storm action as this warmer air arrives... but there remains a decent chance of some afternoon shower and thunderstorm activity at the higher elevations to our north and east.  We'll have a little better potential for some rainfall here by late Monday into Tuesday...
