simply active... (pm.04.mar.12)>

It is calm, peaceful and pleasant at the moment... but this day has been full of variety, so who knows what might be happening by the time i finish writing and get this posted!  We've had clouds and showers alternating with glimpses of sun all day long... with about a half hour of full thunderstorm action, including pea-sized hail which covered the ground and rooftops, at least in the upper part of town.  Temperatures have also been on a roller-coaster ride... we hit a high of 62.4F (16.9C) thanks to sun during the noon hour, but then dropped to around 50F (10C) during the thunder and hail at 5pm.

update @ 7:15pm... 0.41" (1cm) of rain (and melted hail) today at the wxgeek office.

This is the volatility I was referring to in this morning's post.  There is a lot of dynamic energy in the atmosphere right now, as an upper-level storm system pushes into northern Pakistan... along with a strong push of warmth and moisture trying to surge northward from the plains.  These factors will continue to converge in our neighborhood during the next 24 hours or so... keeping us in line for more periods of showers and thunderstorms.  According to the computer models, the heaviest precipitation should fall higher up in the mountains, just to our north... but we may not escape some fairly significant rainfall totals ourselves.  Stay tuned.

Things should calm down a bit for the remainder of the week, but there will continue to be pockets of instability moving through in the very fast/active jet-stream flow, so there is at least a slight chance of a shower or thundershower on nearly any given day.. especially Tuesday and Thursday.  Temperatures will be comfortably mild... but start to slide below normal by the end of the week...
