kinda volatile... (am.22.apr.12)>

It is partly cloudy at sunrise on this Sunday.  Showers last evening delivered another 0.08" (2mm) of rain here in the upper part of town, which brings the total since the wee hours of Saturday morning up to 0.42" (1.1cm).  My overnight low temperature has been 58.3F (14.6C).

We're getting another break in the action this morning, in between periods of showers and thunderstorms that have been occurring across Himachal Pradesh.  Our upper-level storm system has now drifted into northern Pakistan, and is steadily weakening as it moves in our direction.  However, pockets of colder air aloft, combined with some rotation/circulation in the atmosphere associated with this system will set the stage for potentially rapid thunderstorm development this afternoon.  Enjoy the sunshine, but just be prepared to take shelter if necessary!

As we progress through the coming week, it looks like there will still be some occasional instability to deal with... as temperatures warm up at the surface and small disturbances drift through in the upper-atmosphere.  That means the risk of mainly PM thundershower action will stay with us, despite a good amount of pleasantly warm spring sunshine.
