rapid rebound... (am.23.may.12)>

We have deep blue skies and full-power sunshine this morning.  I've recorded a low temp of 67.8F (19.9C) here in the upper part of town, and no additional rainfall since yesterday afternoon.  Total rainfall since late Sunday night amounts to 0.29" (7mm), bringing the total for the month of May to exactly 1.0" (2.5cm).

Temperatures dipped slightly below normal on both Monday and Tuesday, thanks to our recent upper-level disturbance which kept us flirting with thundershowers and gusty winds.  That system has now dissipated, and will be replaced by a ridge of high pressure aloft which will be building into the area during the next few days.  As warmer air flows in throughout all layers of the atmosphere, we should see a more stable situation, with a lower chance of any shower or thunderstorm development.  Having said that, some isolated PM mountain thunder can't be entirely ruled out of the equation... but sunshine should be our main weather feature through Friday.

It's going to be interesting to see just how high temps can go during the coming 3-4 days or so.  Computer models are pointing to the warmest weather of the season all across northern India: we really are getting into the heart of our summer season...
