small doses... (am.22.may.12)>

It is cloudy, breezy and thundery early this morning, as thundershowers have been moving through the area since about 4:00am.  My rain gauge shows just 0.12" (3mm) here in the upper part of town, so once again, it has been more of a sound, light and wind show than anything else.  I've recorded an overnight low of 59.5F (15.3C), which is the coolest here at my location since way back on the 2nd of May!  Natural air-conditioning thanks to the thundershowers.

The upper-level disturbance responsible for this unsettled weather of the past 36 hours or so is still centered just northwest of us.  It is weakening as it drifts east-northeastward, and will become irrelevant to us by tonight or early tomorrow.  There is still a chance of another round of showers or a thunderstorm today, but we'll also see some sunshine as the day wears on.  Temps should rebound quickly as soon as the sun pops out again.

The rest of the week will be dominated by a building ridge of high pressure in the upper atmosphere that will usher in the next round of very warm weather.  Rain chances will be slim, sunshine abundant, and temperatures surpassing the warmest of the season thus far as we head toward the end of the week...
