We have a mix of hazy sun and clouds across the area early this morning. It has remained very humid overnight, and I've recorded a low temp of 72.7F (22.6C) here on Tushita Road. The only rainfall during the past 24 hours has been just a few sprinkles yesterday afternoon.
*Update @ 8:00am... already getting some rapid fog development at my location in the upper part of town.
Deep tropical moisture continues to be pulled northwestward along the Himalayan front ranges from Uttarakhand into Himachal Pradesh. The moisture content of our air mass is the highest of the season/year, with even juicier air on the way as we approach the latter half of the week. The development of a few showers and/or thundershowers is expected today... but rain chances will greatly increase starting tomorrow, and especially on Thursday through Saturday. All computer model data is pointing to a nearly saturated air mass (meaning, humidity near 100%), and that will cause widespread areas of fog to develop as this genuine monsoon moisture moves in. Heavy downpours are likely once things really get rolling.
Due to the increased humidity, our temperatures have already dropped a few degrees, and should drop further, especially by the end of the week. Although it will take several days to get an official monsoon onset declaration from the IMD, it's a pretty good bet that we'll have bona fide monsoon conditions in progress here by Thursday...
