chilled out... (am.25.oct.12)>

Our skies are absolutely clear just before sunrise this morning, and satellite pics show the same over the vast majority of South Asia.  I'm recording an overnight low temp of 52.9F (11.6C), and there has been no rainfall during the past 24 hours.

The snow that fell shockingly low down the mountain early yesterday morning has rapidly melted, leaving the accumulations on the higher elevations of the Dhauladars, where they should be this time of year.  It looks like the sun will be melting more of that early-season snow today, although temperatures will remain just a shade below normal.  Some pools of very cold air are lingering in the upper atmosphere, and with surface heating, there could be enough instability to generate considerable cloudiness over the mountains this afternoon -- and it's not out of the question to get an isolated shower or thundershower up there.  Keep that in mind if you have plans higher up.

Otherwise, a very quiet weather pattern is setting up as the weekend approaches, and into at least the first half of next week.  Weak high pressure will become established over northwest India by Sunday, which will allow temperatures to warm up nicely.  Right now it looks like we'll end October with above normal temps.
