the autumn chill... (pm.14.nov.12)>

Wednesday's stats:

Early morning low temp: 48.2F (9.0C)
Afternoon high temp: 59.9F (15.5C)
Rainfall: none

Clouds are fizzling just after sunset this evening, but there remains a lot of haze in the air.  Glorious sunshine from the morning until the early afternoon gave way to rapidly increasing clouds over the mountains around 1:30-2:00pm -- a reminder that our current air mass isn't completely stable.  Today's high temp was the coolest of the season... and the morning low was the second coolest.

For several days I've been talking about a subtle warming trend for the latter part of the week, but so far we haven't seen a trace of it.  Although milder air is trying to nudge in aloft, a fairly deep layer of cool air is entrenched at the surface, and it looks unlikely that it will budge much before yet another surge of cooler air arrives.  We could see a brief period of milder temps on Friday into Saturday, but it may be barely noticeable.  Sunshine will be punctuated by a few waves of high cirrus clouds, along with a period or two of mainly PM cumulus clouds over the mountains.

Late Saturday, the next upper-level disturbance will begin to affect us.  Computer models are actually advertising some widely scattered shower activity in our vicinity from Saturday evening through Sunday -- so factor that potentiality into your outdoor plans.  Significant rainfall isn't expected, but stay tuned as we watch things evolve...
