There's very little fog at sunrise this morning, and in fact, there are some breaks in the overcast which could allow a little bit of sunshine through. Humidity stands at 93% with a temperature of 65.5F (18.6C) here on Tushita Road just below the Mountaineering Center. I've recorded no rainfall overnight, after the trace amounts during some drizzle and random light showers late last evening.
We seem to have broken the cycle of significant overnight rains, since nothing of consequence developed last night. Our rainfall rates have been decreasing the last couple of days, allowing this very wet month of August to attempt to balance out a bit. There's nothing in the latest data that indicates any kind of dramatic retreat of monsoon conditions, but it does look like things will be a bit more tolerable for the next day or so. Having said that, sudden heavy downpours could occur at any time, so continue to be prepared for that, even if we're getting a few hours of brighter conditions. If I had to nail it down, I'd say that Monday and Tuesday are looking like the wettest days of the next several, as a fresh push of tropical moisture arrives.
By the way, the average date of 'official' withdrawal of monsoon conditions for our area is around 12-15 September. Just because we had an early start this year doesn't mean that we'll have an early end!
