Every single day since the start of September has been more or less the same, and today has been no exception. The nicest period of sunshine was confined to the early to mid-morning hours, with clouds and patchy fog taking over by 10:30 to 11:00am or so. The first showers did wait a little later today -- they didn't materialize until nearly 1:00pm -- but occasional downpours from that point up until about 3:30pm delivered some hefty amounts of rain up here in McLeod and vicinity. It's mostly cloudy with some fog just before sunset this evening, but there's no rain at the moment.
There is absolutely no indication of a significant change in the overall weather pattern during the coming few days, and even for the next week or more, for that matter. Drier air filtering into the plains of north India, to our south, will have little effect on us up here at our elevation along the front slopes of the mountains. It looks like just the right combination of factors will remain in play to keep us dealing with alternating periods of sun, clouds, fog and downpours of rain all the way through next week.
It's now getting to the time when it would be reasonable to be anticipating some feature on the weather charts that would sweep into northern India and nudge this remaining tropical moisture off to the southeast. Nothing like that is on the horizon yet, so it looks like a monsoon withdrawal AFTER the 15th of September is virtually assured for us. Considering the very early start this year, this is turning out to be a long season.
