We have clear skies and bright sunshine early on this Thursday morning. There was quite a lot of thunder rumbling around late last evening -- along with some very light showers -- but I have had nothing measurable in the rain gauge since yesterday afternoon. That leaves the total precipitation from this most recent storm system at only 0.04" (1mm). The overnight low here in the upper part of town has been 50.5F (10.3C).
Our recently departed weather disturbance was typical of something we would normally expect this time of year, as it moved in and out fairly quickly, leaving only light amounts of rainfall. April is actually the second-driest month of the year on average -- so it will be interesting to see if the very wet weather of the past two months is going to be able to truly come to a screeching halt. It looks that way in the near term, but we'll have to watch another storm system as it gets its act together early next week.
A seasonable ridge of high pressure is now building across northern India, and should provide us with generally stable conditions today, along with a significant warm-up. As I've been mentioning, the question mark on Friday and Saturday will be the development of some high cloudiness. If that happens, then temperatures are going to be held several degrees below their potential with this incoming air mass. BUT -- if sunshine can manage to dominate, then we'll be experiencing our warmest weather of the season.
