It's clear, but with some light haze in the air at sunrise. I'm recording the warmest overnight low temperature of the season and the year -- at 67.8F (19.9C). There has been no rainfall since last report, and only a trace of rain in the past week.
The early summer heat wave which has been raging on the plains of north India the last several days will continue today. I've registered three consecutive days of highest temps of the season and the year, and it may happen again... as long as there's not too much cloud development this afternoon. A big ridge of high pressure remains parked over the Indian subcontinent, but there are some ripples of upper-level energy trying to ease in from the west, which may begin to knock down that ridge over the weekend into early next week. The last several days we've only seen very isolated afternoon shower/thunder development over the mountains, but that activity may increase slightly, day by day, eventually leading to a good chance of some scattered shower and thunderstorms in the area during the Sunday through Tuesday period. But even with that rain potential, we should still see plenty of sunshine mixed in as well.
Temperatures will remain well above normal for this time of year as we head into the weekend, but with a greater percentage of clouds and an increasing risk of those showers/thunderstorms, we'll probably cool off several degrees by Monday or Tuesday.
