beautiful at the moment... (pm.11.jun.15)>

Thursday's stats:

Low temp: 57.7F (14.3C)
High temp: 84.2F (29.0C)
Rainfall since 7:00am: none
24 hour rainfall: 0.96" (2.4cm)

We're in the midst of a surprisingly beautiful evening, with mostly clear skies just before sunset.  The day started off rocky with clouds and showers very early this morning, but the sunshine broke through by 9:00am or so -- and it's been sunny to partly cloudy ever since.  There was an attempt at some big cumulus development over the mountains during the early afternoon, but it never translated into any significant thundershower development.  Today's high temp was exactly as expected.

Although there's actually a bit more latent moisture contained in our air mass this evening, the overall atmosphere is more stable, and that has prevented thundershowers from getting stirred up -- at least up til now.  But the weather pattern remains the same, with a west-northwesterly flow aloft which contains random weak wiggles and circulations, so that means we could have a flare-up of showers/thunder during mainly the afternoon, evening and overnight hours for the coming several days.  In between, we'll still see a majority of dry hours, however, with good daily doses of sunshine keeping our temps very close to normal for the middle of June.

If you haven't seen it yet, there is a monsoon discussion on the AWAITING MONSOON 2015 tab at the top of the page.  If you check there regularly, you'll be on top of the latest status and reports pertaining to the monsoon's march northward.  So far this season the leading edge is lagging well behind schedule, but our recent heavier downpours are signs that our atmosphere is already shifting into pre-monsoon mode.
