The mcleodganj weathergeek was born in May 2010. As a professional meteorologist from the always volatile central US, and a long-term resident of McLeod Ganj starting back in 2001, I have always been obsessed with observing and attempting to forecast weather conditions here. Data is limited, but in the last three or four years, with better internet connectivity, I am constantly discovering more information available via computer model output and satellite imagery. The southwest-facing Himalayan ranges from northern Pakistan through northern India are among the most challenging places in the world to forecast evolving weather conditions... as many of you know!
Over these last 6+ years, traffic to this site has increased dramatically. Some of it has been 'word of mouth'.
